There have been some interesting reports coming from users all around the USA that newer Imax antennas they have purchased aren’t tuning for a low SWR. The rumors gave way to some hard evidence when Bell’s CB recently post on their website the following:
We no longer sell this antenna because Solarcon decided to shorten the antenna so that it would ship easier. They did this without changing the tuning of the antenna so now it comes tuned for 10 meter Ham band and not CB radio.

As someone who has purchased many of these antennas over the years (and done a detailed review on them) I was very surprised by this news!
I’ve sent an email to the parent company to try to get more information and I’ll post up as soon as details are available.
